This summer I’m going to be working for 8 weeks as a counselor at Mid-South Youth Camp. It’s a nearly round-the-clock job Sunday–Friday and it’s going to be a blast.
I’m also going to taking an independent study course in Latin, which essentially means I’m teaching myself.
Yesterday, I got my grammar (Moreland and Fleischer’s Latin: An Intensive Course), and man, does it live up to its name.
Unit 1 (there’s 18 units total) introduces the entire indicative verb system. It throws noun declensions in there too, just for kicks.
That’s pretty much everything we learned in my first semester of Greek. And did I mention that this grammar was designed for the user to learn a unit per day? Insanity. Fortunately, my plan is to go through one per week.
I think I’m going to have the girls in my cabin quiz me with flashcards. See, parents? Send your kids to MSYC and they learn all sorts of important lifeskills and facts… like Latin!
